The region encourages you to set off on your bike, from the “voie verte” (greenway) on quiet back roads, along the water’s edge or through the vineyards and to stop at rest areas designed for optimum comfort.
What could be better than a bike ride on country roads!
The day begins and it’s time to get ready for a bike ride. You will need the right equipment – bottle of waters, sunglasses and even sun cream. You sort the logistics, and the routes offered in Touraine-Est Vallées will take care of the rest!
The variety of routes between the banks and the hillside is an opportunity to admire the scenery, and sometimes a sporting experience. To live according to the rhythm of nature, you can choose from several routes:
- The Loire à Vélo; an ideal route to cycle between the châteaux of the Loire and explore the vineyards of Touraine. The Loire guides you throughout your ride
- Saint Jacques à Vélo; the Camino de Santiago trail most frequented by cyclists as it is relatively flat. Experience the “Via Turonensis” or the Tours route!
- “Cœur de France à Vélo : Val de Cher” (long-distance cycling route (véloroute) no. 46); a lush green route along the banks of the Val de Cher and the Canal de Berry.

And for lunch…
There are plenty of picnic areas dotted along the cycle routes. At the water’s edge, in the middle of the countryside, a break is essential! Why not pop into our bakeries and shops where you will find specialities for a picnic to remember!
